Between 1630 and 1640, Boston, Lincolnshire England, a town 120 miles from London, contributed 10% of its Puritan religious population to the Massachusetts migration.
242 Years later the Boston Globe printed.
The Boston Globe (and Boston Sunday Globe) is the most widely circulated daily newspaper in Boston, Massachusetts and New England. Owned by The New York Times Company, the broadsheet Globe's local print rival is the tabloid Boston Herald.
tunnels@bigdug.com - says this about these two papers.
"I look forward to viewing the Boston Sunday Globe edition online more now than I used to because I don't buy the printed edition often. I will hold and turn the Phoenix paper because I get it FREE from curbside boxes all over Boston, except in CERTAIN neighborhoods. Can't get it in Roxbury, Dorchester nor Mattapan! Oh well. The Globe is there right beside The Metro and Boston Now papers everyday. The Boston Globe is more to the RIGHT than the Phoenix. The Boston Globe is JOURNALISM for BABYBOOMERS. The Phoenix is accurate, funky and fresher so I read them both. The Boston Banner is very good about covering Boston's African American and minority businesses and community."
The Boston Banner newspaper covers Boston's multicultural community better than the Globe and the Phoenix. The Boston Banner is a black community newsprint. Boston has Hispanic newspapers and Asian community papers too. In fact, there are 19 distinct neighborhoods, according to the Mayor's Office of MAIN STREETS. Ethnic variety is all over Boston. Today's Boston has approximately 290,000 ethnic white (caucasian) residents, 90,000 Spanish speaking residents, 50,000 Asians, and 125,000 Black / African Americans. Boston's population is about 600,000, not including the college student enrollments.
